P
ru Marlowe is back! Always a good read with her name on the story. Pru can hear what animals are thinking. Wouldn't you love to be able to do that? Or maybe not. Might hear some things you might not want to hear.
P
ru provides walkies for several of her customers. She has a service dog-in-training out for a stroll when the dog senses something. Pru follows the worried dog and finds a dead body – a woman who looks as though she has been mauled by a big cat! Pru knows that there are no longer any big cats in the Bershires and there haven't been for many years. Wallis, Pru's cranky cat, is sure that a big cat is roaming the mountains, although Pru assures her that couldn't be; that big cats are extinct in the Berkshires.
S
pot, the dog Pru has been walking, is sure the violent death is much more than a tragic one. As another woman disappears, Pru pairs her detecting skills with her ability to communicate with animals to good use.
Panthers Play for Keeps
by Clea Simon is worth the read. Simon also has two other intriguing series as well as some non-fiction work.
