ori Willis, a young mother in Finch, slowly introduces us, her eager readers to the town's residents. They are many, each with their own personalities and manner of dress. And they are a pure delight.

ori offers to help the Aussie, following his uncle's directives, to restore the gardens around the uncle's house to their original state. While weeding, they discover a well! Lori, with tongue in cheek, puts the well to the test and wishes for dry weather. When the incessant rain stops, word gets out and the well is deluged with - instead of rain - wishes. These wishes are soon granted by the well and Lori suspects skullduggery.

he old adage to be careful what you wish for certainly holds weight here. Most of the sincere wishes that came true engender nothing but trouble. Will she come up with an answer to the wishes that are plaguing the village?
