nder Cold Stone
is author Vicki Delany's seventh mystery in her Molly Smith series. It is another very good one. All Delany's novels are hard to put down.
L
ucky Smith (Molly's environmentalist mother) and her gentleman friend Paul Keller travel from Trafalgar, British Columbia to Banff Springs Hotel for a little R&R. The relaxing and restorative weekend becomes something else when Lucky stands up to two bullies in a local coffee shop. Before she and Paul know it, they are embroiled in someone's death and it looks as though Paul's son Matthew might be involved.
B
ecause Matthew runs from the murder scene, he is immediately tagged as a '
person of interest
'. Not a good thing to be. Molly, a Trafalgar police officer, drives to Banff to support her mother. Molly has no one to leave their dog with, so he goes along for the ride. I can easily picture him.
A
s always, Delany's books are so easy to fall into. I read this one almost non-stop. Dinner called or I would have finished it in one sitting. I love, love the characters.
M
olly is a strong person, but not so good in the kitchen. Lucky has firm beliefs and is willing to fight for them. Paul seems a good addition for Lucky (who lost her husband several years before and had trouble accepting Paul's advances). Now she seems to have come to terms with her new situation but Molly still has reservations. It's a very enjoyable read.
