Heather McDonald's seemingly charmed life on Chelsea Lately and After Lately is anything but. Married with two young sons and a stepdaughter, Heather finds herself trying to balance work and family while attempting to achieve Hollywood A-List status. The result is this hilarious memoir.

Heather is no ordinary mom. To ease her trip through Los Angeles' notoriously congested freeways and interstates, she straps her son's toddler-sized stuffed monkey (wearing some of his clothing) into the car seat so she can partake of the diamond lane. The trick comes to an embarrassing end in a parking lot and involves a hot day, her stepdaughter, and a seemingly good Samaritan.

Her life at work is equally humorous and inappropriate. Apparently, Chelsea Handler likes to update Facebook profiles of those working for her, should they leave their computer unattended and Facebook page open. Finding out the hard way, Heather does just this and, to her horror, her status has been changed and leads to an odd, yet still entertaining, weekend.

I was laughing at just about every situation Heather finds herself in. At a birthday party with her son she notes that the Dora the Explorer pinata is not a good idea because it is not 'a great choice for children to see a four-year-old girl hanging from a tree and then bleeding out candy after being beaten with a bat by other children.' Her sense of humor is wonderful: snarky, smart, witty, and, yes, sometimes inappropriate.

If, like me, you have never watched Chelsea Lately or After Lately, you'll still understand and appreciate the humor and daily life of Heather McDonald. Aptly titled, this memoir is full of humor and LOL moments, even if some of the situations and humor are not suitable for small children, nuns, or mature adults.
