Imagine your horror while attending a large wine tasting, when what emerges from a large wine barrel instead of a brand new wine, is the body of the winery's owner!

Theodosia Browning, a tea shop owner, happens to have solved a number of crimes in Charleston through her years as proprietor of the Indigo Tea Shop. She seems to have a nose for more than tea and wine.

The local constables are not happy with what they call her interfering, but welcome her help when they become bogged down. The dead young man's father, Jordan Knight, begs for Theodosia's help. He is devastated and cannot accept that whoever killed his son is still walking around free.

Apparently, there have been domestic problems at the winery. Theodosia must look at the tasting party's guest list, hoping that a name will spring out at her. Through her shrewd mind and a piece or two that fall into place, Theodosia is able to solve the crime and get back to her tea shop.

Along with a great mystery - and a peek into life running a tea shop - Steeped in Evil comes with some wonderful tea time recipes. The reader might want to take notes on what is served in the shop and also the teas that are offered. I am not a tea drinker, but after almost being able to taste the marvelous variety of teas here, I will have to take up a new pastime – drinking and serving tea instead of that other beverage to myself and friends. As always, another very good read from Laura Childs.
