Child psychologist Alex Delaware and LAPD Dectective Milo Sturgis again collaborate on a case in this latest Jonathan Kellerman psychological thriller.

It is certainly not what he wanted or even expected when he became involved in a child custody battle between two sisters, but that's what Alex stumbles into in this situation. Cherie Sykes is the mother of a year and a half old infant and her sister, Dr. Connie Sykes, considers her free-spirited sibling a very poor parent. A court battle erupts between the two Sykes sisters over custody of the child.

If that were not bad enough, a violent crime makes the situation even worse and then the little girl at the center of the family dispute disappears. As much as he would like to wash his hands of the whole sorry affair, Alex knows he's going to have to stay the course, if for no other reason than to find and protect the child at its center.

At this point the child psychologist realizes he's going to need the assistance of his long time friend, Milo Sturgis, to bring this mess to a satisfactory conclusion.

If you've followed the adventures of these two characters in the past, you have a pretty good idea of what you are in for. There will be plenty of twists, turns and surprises before this story is finished but you'll relish every moment of the fast paced tale. For the first time reader, prepare yourself for an intense but satisfying adventure. Be forewarned; after you've read a few chapters you'll be hard pressed to set this book down!
