uccessful stage actress Leigh Kendall should be on top of the world - she's working at a career she loves, has reached the pinnacle of success and is deeply in love with her adoring husband, Logan Manning. Life couldn't be better. Logan has bought a new property and wants Leigh to meet him for a weekend alone. She agrees but drives into a blizzard and barely survives a car crash. When she wakes in the hospital and no one is able to locate Logan, she becomes frantic. As more time passes without word of Manning's whereabouts, the police become suspicious. Is Logan Manning simply snowed in and unable to get to a phone or has something more sinister happened? Once authorities are able to make it to the remote cabin, Manning's body is discovered in his SUV. At first his death looks like a suicide, but when the clues point to murder, suspicion turns to Leigh.
T
hough Leigh is devastated at the loss of her husband, and despite her grief and her shock at being named a suspect, she opens her life to the investigators, insisting they leave no stone unturned in their search to find Logan's killer. When the police discover that Manning had been involved in several affairs their interest in Leigh heightens. Did she known about his illicit life and murder Manning in a fit of rage? More and more shocking information comes to light about Manning's secret life and business dealings. If not for the help of mysterious billionaire Michael Valente, Leigh might have fallen apart. But from the moment she wakes up in the hospital after her car crash, he is there to offer his help and to watch over her, keeping the hungry media and the police at bay. Initially Leigh is frightened of the dark and brooding man who has only recently been introduced to her as one of Logan's business partners. Yet she cannot deny that Valente is always there for her at the right moment. Once he reveals who he really is, and professes his long-time devotion and love for her, neither can deny their mutual and sizzling attraction.

omeone To Watch Over Me
starts out rather slowly with meandering dialogue. But once Ms. McNaught takes readers deeper into Michael Valente's true agenda and background, his early ties to Leigh, and also the vendetta against him by certain members of the police department, the action and interest in what happens next heats up considerably. The author also has a nice secondary plot going between lead investigator Mack McCord and detective Samantha Littleton that comes close to overshadowing Michael and Leigh's story. Here's hoping Ms. McNaught brings them back for an encore or even a book of their own.
Someone To Watch Over Me
is an enjoyable romantic mystery, offering interesting characters and lots of red herrings, but don't look for too many surprises.
