Whew! I am exhausted. I tried to keep up with the action in Zero-Degree Murder by M.L. Rowland. From practically the very first page, tension starts to build and doesn't ever stop for anything until the last page. This is the first of a new series and if this is an example of what's to come, we are all in for some really good reading.

Gracie Kinkaid, a volunteer for Timber Creek Search and Rescue, is called out on Thanksgiving Day to look for hikers missing in the wilderness of Southern California. Turkey and all the trimmings aren't as important as someone in need. A blizzard blows in and complicates the search. Gracie's arm of the search team finds famous actor Rob Christian. He is injured and remembers being attacked but not by whom.

So Gracie must not only save Rob from the elements but also keep someone out to kill him from succeeding. It takes all her ingenuity and the contents of her backpack to bring him back alive. Since he is injured she must use her medical knowledge to care for him. Her partner in the search leaves, taking the radio with him, hoping to find a signal. Why isn't he back?

The complications of a search and rescue operation boggled my mind. So much to know and do. And never forgetting you are part of a team and must act as such. Apart from not being cold, I felt I was along with the search party and at times despaired of surviving. Can't wait for the second of this series.
