Suzanne and Toni, one of her partners in the Cackleberry Club Café, drive to Memorial Cemetery to drop off some flowers for the cemetery's 150th anniversary celebration. The last thing they expected to see was a dead body curled up in a freshly dug and empty grave! Lester Drummond - an unsavory character who believed he was God's gift to women - is the corpse. The town of Kindred, where the Cackleberry Club is located, is aquiver with speculation. Who killed the man and why? That speculation is rife and Suzanne is asked by Doogie, the police chief, to stay out of the investigation! That's like asking a dog not to eat his kibble. There appears to be a plethora of suspects. From recent parolees of the nearby prison to Suzanne's good friend Missy. Suzanne is there for her friend – even posting bail for her. There is a third partner – Petra – in the Cackleberry Club who is responsible for the delicious recipes at the end of the book. The Cackleberry Club sounds like a place every small town or village needs and should have. Author Laura Childs has done it once again and Eggs in a Casket is a thoroughly enjoyable read.
