Yale, author of Pun Enchanted Evenings offers us more pun-some entertainment in HomesPun Humor: A Compendium of Guffaws, Giggles & Mirth. Chapter headings range from Cats, Dogs, Birds & Beasts to Cops & Robbers and Grab Bag, with a bit of everything in between. In his Introduction, Yale reminds us that 'A good pun is its own re-word.' He offers Daffynitions like 'A tabby cat mixes her souffle with her whisk-ers!' and 'Herbibore: Vegetarian who rambles on about not eating meat!' Groaners with longer setups include He's Just an Ill Lucian and A Very Mr. Rios Set of Circumstances. At the back of the book are Guest Punster Showcases. I rather like Jeremy Purser's 'There were only two doctors in my hometown. They asked all of their patients to stop smoking, but they were chain smokers themselves. That's a strange paradox.' If you know a punster, or someone who enjoys this strange form of humor, they'd probably appreciate HomesPun Humor as a holiday gift. I know who's getting my copy.
