Fifteen-year-old Bryn Clare lives with a pack of werewolves. She was only four when she was taken in and protected by the pack alpha, Callum.

He saved her from the rabid werewolf who killed her parents and he marked her as his own. Since then Bryn has had a special place in his pack. She and her foster mother Ali are the only two humans living with the pack who are not mated to one of the male wolves.

Ali teaches Bryn to keep her independence and to remember that she is not a wolf and she is not a member of the pack. Some of the pack don't understand why Callum allows Bryn her independence and they make no secret of their hostility.

Things begin to change when Callum asks Bryn to keep inside after dark and assigns her protection at all times. He also increases her defense training. He won't tell her what has changed. Callum's always been overly protective, but now his rules are stifling.

Barnes has put a different spin on wolf and human relationships. There are three episodes in this series so far. Bryn's continuing saga is hard to put down and the characters moving in and out of her life all have enticing stories of their own.
