aroline Verlaine, the young widow of a world famous pianist, has just heard news of her missing sister. She was told that Roma was taking a walk one afternoon and simply disappeared. Caroline decides to take a job on the Stacy estate as a piano teacher in order to investigate her sister's disappearance. She soon finds out that this family has a lot of secrets.
W
hen Caroline meets Napier Stacy (a man who accidently shot his brother and was sent away), she slowly falls under his spell. On one hand this man excites her and on the other he scares her. He tells her things that she is not quite sure she can believe and she wonders if she can trust him. Caroline starts to unravel puzzles and believes that answers lie within nearby ruins or even the quicksand shores that villagers dub the
Shivering Sands
. She hopes to be able to walk away and not disappear like her sister if she gets the answers she is looking for.
W
hat an interesting cast of characters, so different. I fully enjoyed this romantic suspense, even though I occasionally became confused as to what was going on. The great dialogue made me feel like I was watching a movie.
The Shivering Sands
was well worth reading and the ending came as a great surprise.
