S
ybella MacKenzie met Alexander once when she was very young. In fact he was the first who ever kissed her. She never forgot that kiss and never told anyone about it. Alexander MacDonell was her clan's enemy.
N
ow her father wishes her to marry him. At first he says it is about peace between the clans but then reveals the secret mission she is to embark on. Sybella is to find the stone, used by the seer to predict the future, that was stolen from their family chapel. But Sybella did not realize that her heart was also at stake - Alexander is surely melting it every day.
A
lexander MacDonell, the laird of his clan, accepts Sybella in order to keep peace and also to beget heirs which is his duty. He believes that will be the easy part since she's quite beautiful. Alexander is surprised that she is not at all docile, but challenges him at every turn. He has an underlying feeling that she is keeping a secret and that he needs to find out what it is and quickly.
I
cannot imagine what it would be like at such a young age to be forced to marry a family enemy, and the fears that must cause. Yet fate mixed with betrayal can lead the emotions to an area of no return - this story portrays just that.
