ady Irene Knopp works in a dress boutique to keep herself busy. She is the main purchaser of fabric to make the dresses, which is how she meets Grant. Irene likes to keep her aristocratic identity a secret because her family doesn't exactly approve of her job. Being a widow has left her with too much time on her hands. Working saved her life after she lost her husband and, if falling in love makes her have to make a choice between job and romance, she might have to sacrifice the latter.

oney doesn't buy you happiness is the underlying theme in this story and it works well. Grant and Irene both come from wealthy, prestigious families and all they want is happiness, which most people have to work for. I found
What the Bride Wore
totally enjoyable and a good afternoon's read.
