I
have read a goodly number of the Midnight Louie series by Carole Nelson Douglas and enjoyed each and every one. Perhaps I was not in the right mood to read of Louie's midnight prowls this time in
Cat in an Alien X-Ray
, but I found the story hard to read. I found myself wondering who was doing what.
T
he last episode's incidents and characters were referenced many times and I'm afraid I lost the plot line. They were synopsized in the Foreword. That did help. But I also found the fact that both male leads as well as Midnight Louie had the same first initial was rather confusing.
H
owever, Midnight Louie is a character in his own right. He seems to be more and more arrogant in his thoughts of his own prowess and I love that. It is said that dogs have masters and cats have staff! Louie could reign over quite a large staff.
O
ne of his staff is Temple Barr, who, in this book, works in Public Relations but always seems to get caught up in things she has no business near. I do love her attitude.
