After her husband Mike Page (ex-special ops) accepts a job as police chief in wealthy Clairmont, Texas, a pregnant Emily Page moves down there with him, from New York. There she is summoned to meet the social queen bee, controlling Caroline Warwick, who collects the secrets of everyone around her. And Emily has a dark secret of her own, one that she's kept even from her beloved husband, and that still haunts her.

When Emily was in college at age nineteen, she was raped in a fraternity house, with the rapist's roommate present. Though she reported what had happened to campus police, nothing was done. However, after her rapist was murdered, Emily and other victims briefly came under suspicion. Ever since, Emily has been receiving anonymous threats. Now she worries that Caroline might be aware of her past.

She finds little in common with most of the women in Caroline's circle but instantly bonds with Misty Rich, who 'straddled the line between Peter Pan fairy and punker' and has secrets of her own.

When Caroline Warwick disappears, everyone's secrets begin to rise to the light. Emily wonders if her own stalker followed her to Texas, and struggles to tell Mike about her past. Danger gets up close and personal for this very pregnant heroine before rescue comes, Texas style, from the most unlikely source. And Emily finds answers about her own past. Lie Still is a solid mystery with a feisty heroine and colorful Southern characters.
