I had never read a single one of the stories and poems contained in Native American Classics, making it a very enlightening read. As in all the Graphic Classics volumes, Native American Classics contains a wide variety of stories and art.

Out of the eighteen in this anthology, my favorite, both for story and artwork, was A Prehistoric Race by Bertrand N. O. Walker, illustrated by Tara Audibert. Walker's story is a fun legend with a great ending and Audibert's art adds to the whimsy.

Another funny tale was The Story of Itsikamahidish and the Wild Potato by Buffalo Bird Woman and Gilbert L. Wilson. For art, Afua Richardson's illustrations in Anoska Nimiwina are simply beautiful. Anyone looking to gently delve into Native American literature will enjoy Native American Classics.
