The mother of the bride is panicking about the guest list – all kinds of problems rolled into one package. Exes that don't get along, racial tensions, and an over-abundance of psychiatrists. Enough to turn anyone's hair gray on the spot. The bride and groom wanted a simple ceremony with as little fuss as possible. The wedding dress is simple, the food inelegant as befits the occasion. The flowers bright and perky. The guests awaiting the main event. Someone arrives who was not on the guest list. She's in a wedding dress. Wearing a gas mask, toting a sawed-off shotgun and with a bomb trigger strapped to her arm. Combat boots painted white. Enough to stop the wedding march in its tracks. She orders everyone not to panic. Just to do as she says and everyone will be fine. Fine! Hunh! With the baby crying and the toddler wreaking havoc, everything is not fine. And how about the woman who needs her insulin shot? And eventually someone has to use the bathroom. The intruder had earlier thought of everything and had squirreled away a bed pan in the room. She has collected all the cell phones but waits patiently for a SWAT team to arrive. The room gets warmer and warmer. The Ph.D.s all try to assess the woman's background and what would cause her to do this. Each one has a theory that is widely different from the next. The banter alone is enough to keep the reader turning pages. The plot is unique and provides a number of out loud guffaws. I loved the characters. Each with their own agenda that is probably distant from anyone else in the room. The 'terrorist of love' remains cool through the whole ordeal. And might have you looking at your own relationships.
