ophia Stevenson suffered an accident in Hawaii that exposed her to a Rootball and changed her live forever. She is now a very precious commodity for the Illuminist secret society, a navigator with the ability to take them to other dimensions. But being a navigator has its down side too; she is so rare that enemies are after her. Sophia has been under the wing of Captain Bion Donkova, her trainer, and she is finding it more and more difficult to handle her attraction to him.

onkova is a bit jealous of Sophia because of what happened with the Rootball; he would do anything to have a navigator's powers. But for now he will settle for being her trainer and protector. Sophia seems to get into a great deal of trouble and requires rescuing often. Donkova did not foresee finding her maddening and so beautiful. Together they generate a ton of friction, with danger in the mix - life will never be the same for these two.

his is the second book that I have read about the Illuminist Society and I was not disappointed. Sophia and Bion are total opposites and what attracts more? The fire between the pair, plus quite a bit of action, and danger keeps you reading. Historical prim and proper London, plus a secret society with more open rules, makes a very interesting blend. I cannot wait for the next episode.
