The tightly knit Angelotta family run a northern Italian restaurant in a town just north of Philadelphia. When head chef Eve Angelotta finds a corpse on the floor of her kitchen, battered with her favorite marble mortar, all thought of the special of the day is forgotten.

As you can tell by the name of this delightful mystery, You Cannoli Die Once, this is hardly a deep and dark story. If you don't laugh out loud at least once while reading it, you must be as brain dead as the corpse on the kitchen floor.

The victim is Eve's grandmother Maria Pia's boyfriend. Maria Pia is no spring chicken, but this eighty-year-old cheers her on. The only problem the two have is that he is dead as a doornail and she is accused of his murder and now sits in a holding cell.

Eve gathers her staff and numerous cousins around her to canvass the neighborhood and discover if anyone saw anything unusual. Joe Beck offers his assistance – the fact that he is a lawyer as well as being the type of man (devilishly handsome and wearing only bathing trunks while standing in a dumpster) Eve could fall for only makes the hunt for the fugitive killer that much more interesting.

This fun book from the author of many highly acclaimed mystery and crime stories is not to be missed. It will certainly brighten a gloomy day. Or you might meet the love of your life by reading it on public transportation and laughing out loud.
