So I was happy to see him back once more in The Hit, with both committed FBI agent Nicole Vance and feisty young Julie Getty occasionally sharing the spotlight. Last time, he refused to shoot the target assigned to him and was targeted himself. This time, Will is assigned to track down an ex-colleague, Jessica Reel, whose abilities match (and perhaps exceed?) his own. She's started gunning down agency members, beginning with her own handler. Has she gone rogue or is something else going on? And will Robie live long enough to figure it all out? As they try to take each other out, Jessica starts to send Will tantalizing emails. She researches her enemy, learning that 'In many profound ways, his early life mirrored her own.' She uncovers his connections to Nicole Vance and Julie Getty - we wonder how she will use this knowledge. And, as Will digs into the lives of those she has already killed, he finds the files censored. After an attempt on the life of another senior agency member while she's meeting with Will, Jessica saves them both; why? Still going their separate ways, each ends up on the trail of a man code named Roger the Dodger and of his 'doomsday scenario'. Not surprisingly, Will takes himself off the grid once more, in a race against time to stop an apocalypse. And he seeks help from the only one he can trust, Nicole Vance. Betrayals abound throughout The Hit and right to the very end - but it's a highly satisfying conclusion to an excellent, totally gripping thriller. Don't miss this one!
