The subtitle of Foods That Harm, Foods That Heal is 'The Best and Worst Choices To Treat Your Ailments Naturally'. On the back cover, it is recommended to 'let food be your medicine and let Foods That Harm, Foods That Heal be your prescription.'

Very good advice, indeed. Just opening this volume gives the feeling that you're on the right track. This wonderful book explains its theories in detail along with tips on how to change your diet without suffering pangs of loss for what you should, at least, limit in your daily meals. Tips address food safety, pesticides, and how to prepare and store foods for health. Foods are listed alphabetically from Acorn Squash to Zucchini giving page numbers to discover whether that food harms or heals. Moving on, the next pages deal with our ailments, again alphabetically, from Acne to Yeast Infections.

We are informed about Glycemic Index and Glycemic Load: the power behind each bite. That's on Page 262. There is an interaction warning: When food and medicine don't mix, Page 298. Inflammation on Page 334 tells us Eat to Quell the Dangers.

Foods That Harm, Foods That Heal is a 'new edition with new foods, new format and an all new way to look at how diet affects health'. We can learn how to eat when traveling, figure out whether probiotics are for us, and discover the differences between energy bars.

Did you know that Peas and Pea pods harm Gout but can help heal Cancer, Constipation, High Cholesterol and Macular Degeneration? I didn't.

I find it impossible to summarize this important book. Trust me when I say that a copy should be in each home. Not just to look good on your kitchen counter and impress family and visitors. It should be dog eared and smeared with fingerprints proving that the whole family is drinking in the knowledge that can make them healthy and fit.
