love little books like
Every Day Is a Blessing
and have often given them as holiday gifts; there's something very appealing about giving something to be used every single day. In a note at the beginning the author quotes a Russian proverb that '
Every day is a messenger of God
.' He then offers us quotations and brief stories from diverse cultures and traditions all around the world - one for each day of the year.

ere are a few that spoke to me. Colette says '
What a wonderful life I've had. I only wish I had realized it sooner.
' '
Keep a green tree alive in your heart and a songbird may come to sing there
' is a lyrical Chinese proverb. Gandhi tells us that '
The fragrance always remains in the hand that gives the rose
' and from Rabindranath Tagore - '
