Tai Randolph owns and runs a gun shop in Atlanta. After recently encountering a number of corpses, she needs a break. She heads for a Savannah Civil War re-enactment where she can sell some of her goods, attend a few battles and spend time with boyfriend Trey who will join her for a long weekend in her hometown. If he can make it. Fun and games, right? If only.

Tai's ex-boyfriend shows up and begs for her help. Apparently, a Civil War era bible signed by and dedicated to two well-known people has been uncovered and has then disappeared. If real, this bible could be worth a bundle. Trey finally appears and has the same bible on his agenda. He'll get a finder's fee if he can obtain it for his client.

Of course, this change of plans makes for discourse between Trey and Tai. But in looking into the provenance of the bible, Tai Reynolds uncovers some things about herself that could put her life in jeopardy.

This third of the series is as good as the first two: The Dangerous Edge of Things and Darker Than Any Shadow. Tai is a great character with lots of grit, but she has a soft side to her that is endearing. Trey is simply an add-on but I'm sure will come into his own later on in the series. Blood, Ash, and Bone is a good book and worth the read.
