Capital Girls opens a YA series about four girls in Washington, D.C.. They bonded as the best of friends and called their small clique the Capital Girls. But when Taylor dies in a mysterious car accident, their bond is shaken to the core. Secrets start to be revealed that damage their friendship.

Each girl is different from the next in their small circle, but each is powerful in her own way. Jackie is high profile, dating the president's son; Lettie is the daughter of the Paraguayan ambassador's chauffeur; and poor little rich Southern belle Laura Beth is not as innocent as she seems. When a new girl comes to town, the Capital Girls try to make her feel welcome and wanted. But that proves challenging considering that Whitney (whose mother is a gossip columnist) likes to make waves. It seems that no matter where they take her, trouble follows. Will Washington ever be the same again or will it be turned upside down?

Though I wasn't thrilled about the ending, because it came up so fast, I enjoyed the storyline, and the sneak preview of the next in the series. It's interesting and gives a little perspective on the political life.
