he citizens of Goodnight, Virginia include an unusual number of witches. Mona Goodnight is their High Priestess. She also owns and runs a magic store and is raising two nieces, while planning a wedding for her younger sister, and helping run the town's Founder's Day Festival.

s if she weren't busy enough, injured werewolf Adam Blue appears on her doorstep to warn her that someone else wants her High Priestess gig and is planning to murder her to obtain it. Mona has known Adam for years. He's hardly ever spoken to her so she's surprised when he volunteers to be her bodyguard. Hanging out with a sexy werewolf makes Mona extremely aware that she hasn't been with a man for fifteen years. She's having trouble keeping her mind on investigating her own planned murder.
