Imagine living in a community where everyone feels no emotions, has no drive, due to a small piece of technology implanted in the back of the neck. Zoe lives with an implanted chip to protect her from the dangerous emotions that destroyed the old world. Everyone in her community is a drone, doing the same things day in and day out. They live underground without sunshine, trees or fresh air - they are told it was all destroyed by war and that no one can survive on the surface because of radioactivity.

But one day Zoe experiences malfunctions in her hardware; she glitches and all of a sudden she can feel. Colours are more vivid, food tastes better and she begins to think her own thoughts. Zoe also has developed a new power of telekinesis that she has no control over. She needs to keep all of this a secret because malfunctions are not allowed in her community - she could become deactivated and that means death. As she struggles to get through each day, Zoe finds others who are glitching and does not feel so alone. Soon escape is the only option - to seek freedom or lose everything that is still new and fresh.

I found the premise of technology to control humans pretty creepy, but it makes for an intriguing tale that kept me up reading the night away. All its twists and turns make Glitch a roller coaster of enjoyment. I really appreciated the raw innocence of awakening, especially when it came to romance. Fortunately, this looks like the start of a new series.
