N
aughton continues to entertain with this latest in her
Eternal Guardians
series. Her world is filled with Argonaut heroes, their soul mates, and of course the shifting allegiances and rivalries between the gods who reside on Mount Olympus and those cast into the Underworld - and various demigods and their minions in between.
G
ryphon is finally free after months of imprisonment and torture in the Underworld, but cannot rid himself of hideous memories or the voice that continually tries to lure him back into the darkness. The evil Atalanta has marked him as her
doulos
, her slave, and nothing can silence her insidious whispers, or the growing madness that threatens to destroy him. Even his fellow Guardians have become wary of Gryphon's violent outbursts and want him exiled. How can the former Guardian be trusted to protect the human realm?
M
alea has spent the past three thousand years trying to gain entrance to Mount Olympus, and prove to her father Zeus that she is worthy. Presenting him with the Orb of Kronos should do the trick. Unfortunately, Gryphon also needs the Orb to satisfy the deal he made with Atalanta as a trade for his humanity. Battling daemons, hellhounds, Hades and yes, even Persephone's (Malea's mother) shifting allegiances, the unlikely couple manage to persevere against evil at every turn, and find true love.
N
aughton has conjured up another winning instalment in
Enslaved
. Malea and Gryphon are an engaging (and hot) couple, the action is non-stop, and Naughton's world building unique and imaginative.
