All Val has are bad memories of abuse and being afraid of her father. But her parents are gone now and her grandmother needs her, so Val puts aside her career as an Air Force Lieutenant to do the right thing. And the first right thing is trying to hire a wrangler to help around the ranch. Given her mistrust of men it is not an easy task, but her grandmother decides to hire a man named Griff. The new hire is definitely easy on the eyes and his character shines through on more than one occasion, but can Val trust him with her heart? Griff McPherson was a wall street millionnaire until the market crashed. With nowhere to go, he heads back home to Wyoming, hoping his brother will take pity on him. But there is bad blood between the two brothers, so Griff has to make it on his own. Griff takes a posting at another ranch in order to prove that everybody is wrong and this is where he belongs. The Wrangler is an easy read for sure, a well blended tale of how two people with broken backgrounds can come together and mesh so well. My favorite character was actually Val's grandmother Gus, a feisty no nonsense woman in her eighties. But even though the story is slow to rise, it's worth it in the end.
