A
mos Posner rides the Hampton Jitney from New York City to the very upscale beach community of Eastern Long Island, where he has a beautiful home with a lovely ocean view.
A
young woman on the bus engages him in conversation and she ends up in his home – dead! His wife already believes he is not being faithful to her. He's innocent, but will she believe him if she knows someone who did not belong there died in their beach house?
A
llan Retzky's
Vanished in the Dunes
begins with this premise as it becomes apparent that the woman was seeking a sexual encounter. From there the whole plot explodes as suspense builds to the point that the next page is hard to turn, while the reader cannot help but keep reading.
T
ension on every page brings the story to a very unexpected ending. This is a debut for the author! Hard to believe. The mystery keeps us guessing while not a word is unnecessary. The story is tightly written while still digging into every character's past and showing what has brought them to this critical stage of their lives. It's a real nail-biter. Well worth the read.
