rapped in a dark basement, the tortured Kori Daniels is suddenly free, but with conditions. Her boss Jake Tower has a job for her and promises Kori her freedom and her sister Kenley. Kori is a shadow walker, once Jake's bodyguard. Since her betrayal her self confidence has taken a nose dive and she trusts no one, especially Jake. He wants her to recruit someone for the syndicate, a man who can manipulate the dark. This man has drawn the attention of every syndicate in the world, and as time passes also that of Kori Daniels.

an Holt and Kori both have missions to complete and might be in opposition. Kori needs to recruit him or kill him - she has no choice. Ian, on the other hand, has no intention of joining the syndicate, but needs to get close to the syndicate's Binder so that he can kill her, even though she is Kori's little sister. What these two do not expect is the attraction and fire that builds between them. Now they need to choose between the lies and truths and figure a way around their opposing missions or die trying.
