by Mike Pace, be sure to be comfortably ensconced in your favorite chair, preferably with a crackling fire burning in the fireplace and maybe a glass of wine with the bottle in reach. Okay, maybe a couple of fingers of Scotch with an ice cube.

owever you settle in and turn the first page, you are in for a new and fast-moving concept that is as intriguing as it is impossible. Or is it? Impossible, that is? Decide for yourself.

om Booker is a new attorney. He's landed a job at a powerful Washington law firm. Texting as he crosses the Memorial Bridge, he loses control and causes the accident of all accidents. As his minivan is about to crash into the Potomac River, time seems to stand still. Nothing is moving, including what had been the rushing water of the river. He sees a young couple approaching. This couple, whom he later thinks of as the evil twins, tell him that he can save his daughter's life if every two weeks he kills a soul for them to lead to their ultimate rest!

f course, he agrees. What would you do to save your precious daughter's life? Almost anything? She is the light of your life. Your reason for living. But to save her, you must kill! When he enters into this pact, time resumes and neither he nor his daughter dies in the resultant crash.

o. Read on and immerse yourself further and further into this bizarre (but beautifully written) tale of the limits to which a man will go to protect his own. Has the fire burned down yet? Finished your wine – or Scotch? Are the hairs on the back of your neck standing upright yet? Would you prefer not to go to bed? Afraid to sleep and dream?
