They are left emotionally and physically drained, particularly Eve; her showdown with McQueen produced a surprising puzzle piece surrounding her dark and violent childhood. Only time will heal this latest revelation. As the story opens, Eve and Roarke are getting ready to attend another fancy dinner. As always, she'd far rather be chasing a bloodthirsty killer through New York sewers than dress up for another swank, highbrow event. It's no surprise to Roarke that his wife isn't thrilled about having to attend a celebrity-packed party honouring the release of The Icove Agenda, a movie based on one of her most high profile cases. Once there, however, Eve grudgingly admits to her husband that she and, by the looks of it, the rest of her homicide team, are actually having a great time. Everybody is definitely getting a kick out of meeting the actors playing them. Until the body of K.T. Harris (the actress playing Peabody) is discovered on the roof. Harris had stirred up an ugly scene during dinner, and once Eve's investigation gets into full swing, it doesn't take long to discover that, while she was a brilliant actor, everyone had hated K.T. Harris. It seems that the deceased had dirt on most of her colleagues and didn't hesitate to use it to get what she wanted. The million-dollar question? Who, from the lengthening list of Eve's suspects, had hated K.T. Harris enough to make sure she conveniently drowned in the roof top swimming pool? Celebrity in Death follows a more sedate, procedural pace than past books as Eve and her team interrogate - and cross off - one suspect after another. To reveal more would spoil the surprise, and, as always, Robb incorporates a nice little plot twist into her story once she's identified the killer. Don't miss this latest instalment in Robb's long running and always entertaining Eve Dallas series.
