A
sher Levine is the top detective in the LAPD's elite Felony Squad. He's planning a romantic weekend with his ex-wife when he's called to investigate what he calls a
double
. Two young men have been shot to death and their bodies left in an alley.
N
ot bad enough he has to postpone his weekend, but one of the deceased is the offspring of a City Councilman who is a very visible and blustering critic of the LAPD.
A
sh is the son of a Holocaust survivor and has served as a paratrooper in the Israeli Defense Forces. His training there comes in very handy in his present position. And he uses his hand-to-hand combat training to good effect.
T
he case becomes increasingly complicated as the investigation continues. More and more characters crawl out of the woodwork to muddy the waters. As time progresses, Ash's life is put in jeopardy.
M
idnight Alley
is the second in Miles Corwin's Ash Levine series. Corwin is a former crime writer at the Los Angeles Times and produces fine writing, I'm sure somewhat based on his previous career.
M
idnight Alley
is an exciting and hard hitting novel that reeks of suspense and action. A
must-read
. Its pages cannot be turned fast enough to satisfy readers. Please, Mr. Corwin, keep writing and keep Ash Levine fighting the good fight.
