mily Murphy shows up in Valentine after her divorce - her mother left her the old General Store that her family had started. Emily doesn't remember her grandmother and does not know anyone in town but plans to sell the store and use the money for college. She needs to start a new life since her husband divorced her. She gets a letter from her grandmother's lawyer that shatters her belief that her father died when she was little. Apparently he was not her biological father, who is still in Valentine.

ate Thalberg is at the local bar when Emily walks in to get a beer and something to eat. They end up playing pool for a kiss. When Emily loses she finds herself mesmerized by his kiss. She hightails it out of the bar shortly afterwards, only to find that her car won't start. Nate gives her a ride to the General Store, but there is no way she can stay in the apartment above it, since the last renters destroyed it. Nate offers to take her to his grandmother's house, where she can stay until she finds another place.

ate's grandmother loves Emily right away and keeps pushing Nate and Emily together. Nate resists since he never goes out with a girl on more than ten dates. Emily is in no shape for a new relationship after her divorce, but they decide to date with no strings. They both feel it will be safe since Emily is leaving Valentine as soon as the General Store restoration is finished. She tries to complete the work herself but Nate ends up helping her and they spend even more time together. Nate finds himself falling in love with Emily despite his ten date rule.
A
Town Called Valentine
, Emma Cane's debut contemporary romance, has a small town feel with characters that readers will love. Emily and Nate both have past relationship baggage to threaten their newfound love. The secondaries almost promise new series storylines. Nate's brother and sister both befriend Emily as well as a fellow store owner and her sister. Readers will fall in love with the townsfolk and want to revisit Valentine again and again.
