Avry is a magical healer who has been in hiding for three years. After a plague struck her people and the healers were unable to cure the sick, the healers were blamed. They were hunted down and killed. Avry has been lucky so far. Then she hears the cry of a child, something she cannot resist. Even though she heals the child, the parents turn her in to the authorities. Avry sits in prison awaiting execution.

A small band of men break her out of prison and take her on the run with them. They want her to heal their king and have been searching for a healer for two years. Avry learns that she is the last one of her kind alive. The ruler they want her to heal represents everything she despises and if she heals him she will most likely forfeit her life. She finds the band's leader very rude and pushy whereas the others are becoming her friends. She is actually starting to believe that life might be worth living.

Touch of Power is well worth a read, taking a strong female lead on an unforgettable journey involving danger, friendship and choices to be made. The characters are convincing, the scenery extraordinary and the plot line flows steadily. It has a little bit of everything for those who enjoy fantasy and romance or just love a good tale.
