And it's another good one. The man can write. May he continue. In this book, Moe has just been diagnosed with stomach cancer. He won't tell his daughter Sarah until after her wedding two weeks hence. Just to throw a complication into the works, Carmella, his ex-wife and former PI partner, approaches him to investigate her sister Alta's murder. She thinks the murder is tied into the incident when Alta and her EMT partner refused to help a man who was in cardiac arrest. Afterwards, hate mail and threats became a big part of the EMTs' lives. Moe follows a trail that keeps getting more and more involved, and regularly adds names to his list of suspects. All the time, his stomach is on fire. The plot of this new novel is, to say the least, convoluted. But Coleman handles it with ease and provides a very good read. I like his protagonist. Moe knows he has faults, as we all do. But he admits his and moves on. With his physical problem, he still retains his sense of humor. He tells one friend of his condition and they exchange funeral home type jokes.
