True Name
is Ashallayn'darkmyr Tallyn and he is the prince of the Winter Court and the last surviving son of Unseelie Queen Mab. He has become dead to her and must embark on a journey. Ash wants to become human in order to be with the one he loves, Meghan, the Iron Queen.
S
ince Ash is a faerie of the Winter Court, he cannot be around iron or he will become sick and die. In fact anything metal or iron burns him with intensity. Ash and his enemy Puck (they were once friends) are going to travel to the end of the world in order for Ash to become human. There are many dangers to overcome, as well as emotional setbacks. Ash needs to realize who he is and what he is, as he takes on the trials of the gauntlet to gain a human soul.
W
hat an imagination Julie Kagawa has; the descriptions are very realistic, almost surreal. She takes you on a journey that tests the human spirit, even though her characters are magical entities. There are many lessons to be learned for all ages. I enjoyed this book immensely, and look forward to more in the series.
