efore you start reading Thorns on Roses by Randy Rawls, be forewarned. If you have a weak stomach, this is not the book for you. I kid you not.

x-Dallas cop, Tom Jeffries, is now a private investigator in Broward County, Florida. His best friend’s daughter has been gang-raped and strangled by five men. Jeffries vows to find her killers and bring them to justice – dead or alive. Preferably dead.

isgusted with the court system that declares the police don’t have enough evidence to convict monstrous men of their crimes, he is determined to correct that failing all on his own.

seems to be behind a new crime spree. We meet the leader. He is a disillusioned whacko, needing to be stopped. How Jeffries goes about this is hard to read about. I know there are crimes out there. Despicable crimes. I would prefer not to allow them into my life even though I know there is always that possibility.

his story was simply too harsh for me. Sorry, Mr. Rawls. You're a good writer, setting a pace to keep readers on the edge of their seats. Lots of action. Graphic. Gritty. Just not for me.
