She pushes Aunt Nancy out of their lives and brings magic and poison into their home. She mixes special vitamin drinks for Papa. Soon he stops speaking and taking care of himself, although he still works zombie-like in the garden. She also wants something from Summer and if Summer doesn't give it, the heart of a child makes a powerful charm. Set in the mountains of West Virginia, this twentieth century fairy tale is magical and suspenseful with an engaging heroine.
