T
he second issue of Aron Warner's
Pariah
is possibly even more action-packed than the first. This issue follows Lila Ellerman, who attends a special Vitros high school where she and her friends work in labs on complex scientific formulas and theories. When the lab blows up, releasing a deadly virus, the Vitros teens are suspected of bioterrorism. They are soon in hiding, but government agents are coming for them - Lila in particular.
W
arner has created one tense story. The mood is intensified by artist Brett Weldele's use of warm colors and illustrations that still have the feel of a hurried sketch to them. More is learned about the Vitros situation, but the story moves faster than the first issue since all of the exposition is interspersed throughout in flashbacks. This second issue of
Pariah
hits the ground running and does not stop until the very last panel. I cannot wait to see what issue 3 brings.
