I
t's hard to put my finger on what captivated me most about
The Year Everything Changed
by Georgia Bockoven. The plot - about four half-sisters who never knew about each other - is certainly intriguing. How would you react on discovering that your daddy had produced four daughters with four different mothers and never stayed around long enough to watch them grow up?
T
he characters are women who are as different from each other as they are the same. With various reactions to the shocking news, they reluctantly gather together to hear tapes their father made just before his death.
T
he Year Everything Changed
is the eleventh work by an author who can tell a story that you will not want to put down. She has created characters you would like to get to know, with writing that flows with poignancy, compassion - and hope, which these women definitely need.
I
won't reveal any more as I just can't spoil the story for readers. Take my word for it that
The Year Everything Changed
is a compelling novel.
