Medical examiner Lucy Trask always begins her day with a jog through the park close to her apartment. On this particular morning, she stumbles across a body which she initially believes to be that of her elderly neighbour. Further examination proves her wrong but further evidence makes it quite clear that the killer had specifically meant for Lucy to find the brutalized corpse.

When more bodies begin piling up with the same MO, Baltimore homicide detective J.D. Fitzpatrick is assigned the case, determined to find out who is trying to terrorise Dr. Trask. His greatest challenge is to remain impartial, particularly once the killer's agenda turns more daring - and personal. Fitzpatrick is certain Lucy knows the man who has targetted her, that she's keeping secrets that could ultimately blow the case wide open. But before he's able to fully gain her trust, the killer strikes another calculated blow, one that brings Lucy directly into his line of fire.

In each of her previous books, Karen Rose has shown a real knack for juggling a large cast of characters with what seems like veritable ease; she does it again in You Belong to Me. She also creates a sinister and three-dimensional villain whose thirst for revenge (against those he believes responsible for the violation of his sister years before) is cold, calculated, and bloody, if a little drawn out. And, as always, amidst the carnage, twisty and complicated plotting, and gritty action, Rose gives her fans another believable romance between leads J.D and Lucy.
