J
uliana Fiori is not the typical English lady; she is outspoken and feisty. She was brought to live with her half brothers after her mother abandoned her and her father died. The ladies of the ton love to gossip about her but Juliana doesn't care. There always seems to be some scandal following her, which is how she comes to meet Simon Pearson. She hides in his carriage late one evening after punching a man who tries to have his way with her.
W
hen Simon (the Duke of Leighton) discovers her in his carriage he is horrified. Juliana is not only beautiful but scandals follow wherever she goes. He does not want his title tainted by scandal but he brings her into his home and cleans up her bloody hands before returning her to her brother Gabriel's house. He can't believe that she has asked him for two weeks to prove to him that people can't live without passion. But he agrees to her terms.
J
uliana is very bold and honest with Simon, which sometimes horrifies him and at others amuses him. He is beginning to fall in love with her but holds back because he feels there has been enough scandal in his life. Juliana is not without baggage either. Her mother left her brothers when they were young and then did the same to her. She feels destined to be just like her mother, since people have been telling her that all her life. Can the two heal each other and live happily together or are they destined to marry others, without love and passion?
E
leven Scandals to Start to Win a Duke's Heart
is the third in Sarah MacLean's
love by numbers
series. So far it's my favorite. Juliana is often hilarious. Simon is initially a bit stiff but then, when he gets to know Juliana, he softens. Readers will fall in love with the main characters and appreciate revisiting some past ones as well.
