ooking for a devotional for a teacher in your life? Teaching as a profession can be discouraging, and
Apples of Gold for Teachers
is the perfect devotional to strengthen the faith of educators of children of all ages. Written by Vicki Caruana, a national education speaker and former teacher, it will uplift and encourage educators. The readings are divided into manageable portions for those short on time. Yet a great deal of depth is embodied in each chapter, providing food for thought and prayer.
T
he book is divided into fifty devotions. Each chapter includes '
An Apple of Gold
' Bible verse that reflects the theme and provides a basis for the day's reading. '
Sowing the Seed
' contains a short reflection on the verse and its meaning to the reader. '
Tending the Orchard
' is an anecdote or example from life and teaching. '
Reaping the Harvest
' includes questions and statements for meditation, action, and journaling. '
Daily Apple
' contains practical suggestions for classrooms and resources for further learning.
M
y parents are both retired teachers, and I have three children in school from preschool through high school. I found devotions appropriate for teachers of any of these age groups and life situations. One section talks to the first year teacher, giving advice and goal-setting techniques. Another speaks to homeschool parents, and yet another to those moving to a different school or area of teaching. I am not a teacher in the strict sense of the word, but I was edified by this book, which gave me food for thought in my own life.
A
s the holiday season approaches,
Apples of Gold for Teachers
will make a perfect gift for any teacher you know. Pass by the apple shaped notepads and Christmas ornaments this year and pick up this book that will truly make a difference in a teacher's life.
