Caitlin Marsh was in love with Gideon Garza in high school, but he left to join the Green Berets without a farewell. Her father did not approve of her going out with Gideon, and she is now a single mom making her living with her floral shop. She is roped into creating a victory garden for Gideon, after learning that he was murdered.

Gideon, who lost his left arm to the elbow in a bombing, is summoned back to Twilight Texas by his father's attorney because he was named in his father's will. The man did not recognize his son when he was alive but has now left him his cattle ranch. Seeing Catlin at the funeral, Gideon goes to her house later. He was devastated when she sent his letters back to him in Afghanistan, but finds out that it was not her doing.

Caitlin is furious with her father for not only forcing Gideon into the army, but for sending his letters back and paying off the PI that she hired to tell her that Gideon was dead. She was shocked to see him again and the sparks still fly when they meet. Gideon does not know that he is her son's father and they will have a lot to work out before they can get together again.

The Welcome Home Garden Club, fourth in the Twilight, Texas series, is my favorite so far, since it gives honor to the veterans of war. It is not only a touching romance but has mystery and passion that will keep readers turning pages on a lazy spring afternoon.
