fter Eve Dallas and partner Peabody finalize an open and shut murder case, Eve heads home with thoughts of seducing her husband and Peabody to the precinct's gym to work out. She's not happy about Eve's off-the-cuff remarks about her clumsy fighting techniques.

fter spying too many hard, perfect cop bodies in the state-of-the-art gym, an embarrassed Peabody decides on an alternate location, the rarely used original gym in Cop Central's dingy basement. She's barely turned the shower stall water off when two fellow officers slam in and begin arguing. It soon becomes clear that these officers, one a Lieutenant of her own precinct, are deeply involved in conspiracy and murder.

haken to the core, Peabody immediately contacts Eve, who's furious once she hears her partner's harrowing story. Determined to trap and shut down Renee Oberman and every one of her dirty cops, Eve pulls together her usual elite team, including her mega-billionaire husband, who once again agrees to act as
civilian consultant
. Together they construct an elaborate plan to bring down Oberman and her crew, one where each move and countermove must be carefully thought out and played out with no mistakes.

obb delivers another powerhouse thriller here as she and her team work every angle to bring down dirty cops. The fact that the identities of the bad guys is clear from the beginning ups the tension as Eve matches wits with colleagues who know every angle as well as her tenacity.
Treachery in Death
, 32nd in this long running Eve Dallas series, is another cleverly plotted, suspense-filled and satisfying thriller.
