L
ucy Harrison lives in Cypress Hollow, California. She owns her own bookstore,
Book Sprire
, and volunteers on the local fire squad. The locals gather in her store to chat over coffee, knit, and buy books.
L
ucy is a knitter and adores the work of the late Eliza Carpenter, who was a good friend of her Grandmother's. One night there is a car crash on the main street and Lucy rushes out to help. She finds herself working alongside a stranger who seems familiar. He is someone she knows, bad boy Owen Bancroft, whom she tutored in high school. They had shared one powerful kiss that Lucy never forgot, but shortly afterwards, Owen left town. Now, years later he is back and Lucy feels the same old attraction for him.
O
wen has returned to Cypress Hollow to sell his mother's home and get her settled into a senior facility as she has Alzheimer's. Owen is a retired police officer from San Fransisco, suffering from a work related accident, and the loss of a good friend. Lucy had been warned away from Owen by family and friends, but that does not stop her from renting her little cottage behind the book store to him. Owen feels the same attraction to Lucy and things begin to heat up between them. Lucy offers to help Owen clear the house out and she soon finds material and patterns that once belonged to the famous Eliza Carpenter.
F
riends and family encourage Lucy to write a biography of the famous knitter and to use pictures and patterns she has found that have never been published. Lucy discovers that Eliza has connections to other people in town as she begins to unravel what she finds. When Irene Bancroft runs away from the home, Lucy and Owen track her down to the local lighthouse which is abandoned and in disrepair. With Owen fighting his injury, Lucy must overcome her fear of heights and climb to the top in order to get help to Irene.
H
ow To Knit A Heart Back Home
is a charming story whose characters captivate your heart. It is the second book in the
Cypress Hollow Yarn
series, following
How To Knit A Love Song
. It is a feel good read, and is a good stand alone story if you have not read the first book.
