The author also traces the origin of some of these beliefs and touches on the fact that some things just cannot be explained.

ou'll read about why some people feel that numbers like 13, 17, and 666 are unlucky and why others are convinced 7 and 8 are their lucky digits. While many Chinese believe red is the color of good fortune, legend has it that actors should never wear purple on an opening night. And, in Spain, yellow is an unlucky color, but half-way across the world in the mountains of Tibet, yellow is said to bestow good luck.
