New York Times bestselling author Laura Childs has brought us another in her series featuring Theodosia Browning and her cohorts in the Indigo Tea Shop - Drayton, Haley, and Mrs. Dimple.

Theodosia and Drayton attend the Heritage Society's Pirates and Plunder party. An artifact on display is a human skull – said to be that of Jack Teach or Blackbeard as he was widely known. This skull had been shaped into a drinking cup with a very, very large diamond set in it. Someone steals this skull/cup and in the process a history intern is murdered. Feeling very sad for the intern and his family doesn't dilute Theodosia's glee at once again becoming entangled with the search for a culprit.

The Charleston police aren't so thrilled with once again having to cope with Theodosia while solving the crime. She always seems to best them in their investigations of murders. Readers get a whirlwind tour of Charleston and meet its denizens with all their societal strictures. While not wealthy, Theodosia fits right in with her high end, imaginative tea shop. We are also treated to the investigative skills necessary to solve a crime - which Theodosia handles with great aplomb, at times putting herself and sometimes others at great risk.

Scones & Bones is a fun book with some really scrumptious recipes at the back - of dishes that might have been served in the tea shop if it were in fact open for business. Don't we wish it were?
